L05 – "Weaknesses, Who needs them?"
We probably never thought that we would be thanking God for our weaknesses or that they would be useful to Him or anyone, especially us!
But there is really good news! They are useful and in fact, vital to our Father and His ability to use us.
When it is obvious to us that God is asking us to do something or be someone we are not, do we find yourselves saying "I can't do it" because we view yourselves as being weak and frail like Moses? Exo_3:10-22 ; Exo_4:1-17
Instead we can freely say what Jesus said, "With men this is impossible", and then say, "but with God all things are possible." Mat_19:26
Paul discovered that...
"When I am weak, then I am strong" - 2Co_12:7-10
Our Father told Paul that "my strength is made perfect in weakness" meaning His power can be fully developed and fully in place where we are at our weakest because we are utterly dependent upon Him.
"God has chosen" the not so important, not so significant (by the world's standards), the dependent ones, to rock the world and turn it "upside down". 1Co_1:18-31 ; Act_17:6
Isaiah tells us that...
God dwells (hangs out) with the contrite ones. God loves to hang out with those who know who they are and know how much they need Him, and they know how much they have hurt Him and are really sorry.
He doesn't have any desire to hang out with those who have everything; money, fame, wisdom (the world's kind), but don't have time for Him, or care how their attitudes or actions affect Him or His. Isa_57:11-21 ; Isa_66:1-2 ; Luk_5:27-32 ; Luk_15:1-7
Webster's Dictionary says...
CONTRITE, a. [L., to break or bruise; to rub or wear. See Trite.] Literally, worn or bruised. Hence, broken-hearted for sin; deeply affected with grief and sorrow for having offended God; humble; penitent; as a contrite sinner.
A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Psa_51:1-19
