Is being a disciple of Jesus optional to the believer or is it the very essence of the life that Jesus Christ intends and desires for us to live?
from your own investigation of the scriptures using the scriptures to support your position.
Class Purpose:
When it gets right down to it, this study is taking a word that was used to describe those who were to come to believe in Jesus Christ and pursue Him.
It paints a picture of us who believe in Him. In essence, it is a study of us pursuing Him and following Him in seeking to hear his words, and follow His commands, to please Him in all that we do.
It could be described in many different ways. We could call it "Being a Child of God In Everyday Life", or being a believer, or being a Christian, or many other words which are used to describe those who follow Christ.
It is a study which takes a word that Jesus used and finds out and understands what He meant by it, to the end goal that we will do what He intended for us to do.
So this study is a self fulfilling search to learn more of Jesus so that we will follow His commands to show Him that we love Him, ( Joh_14:15 ) and to be like Him seeking to please the Father. ( Joh_8:29 )
